It is a crystalline solid or liquid at room temperature, non-toxic, weakly alkaline, and has strong hygroscopicity. Each molecule can bind multiple water molecules. It is prone to discoloration at 120 ℃ and undergoes overheating reaction and gasification decomposition at 175 ℃, becoming a higher tertiary amine oxide.
