    Tert-dodecylthiol CAS 25103-58-6

tert-dodecylthiol is a typical alkyl mercaptan, mainly used as chain transfer agent / molecular weight regulator for polymer polymerization. Tert-dodecylthiol CAS 25103-58-6 is widely consumed in the production of ABS, styrene-butadiene rubber, acrylic polymer, polystyrene and other polymer materials, also can be used as synthetic intermediate for rubber additives and antioxidant raw materials.

    Application

1.ABS Resin Production:Most important application, as chain transfer agent for ABS polymerization to control molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of polymer.

2.Synthetic Rubber:Used in styrene-butadiene rubber, nitrile rubber polymerization process for molecular weight adjustment.

3.Acrylic & Styrene Polymer:Chain regulator for acrylic resin, polystyrene, emulsion polymerization products.

4.Chemical Intermediate:Raw material for synthesis of rubber vulcanizing agent, antioxidant, sulfur-containing fine chemicals.

5.Oil-field chemical auxiliary:Can be applied for partial oil-field chemical formula as additive.

    Features

Excellent chain-transfer capacity:Efficient chain-transfer effect, effectively adjust polymer molecular weight, stable mechanical performance of final polymer.
Good oil-phase solubility:Soluble in hydrocarbons, esters, ethers and other organic solvents, insoluble in water, compatible with most polymerization systems.
Liquid isomer mixture:Liquid at ambient temperature, good fluidity, convenient feeding and transportation.

    Packaging and Storage

    170kg/drum.

    1. Temperature: 2 – 30℃, in a cool storage room, avoid direct sunlight and heat sources and open flames; for short-term storage, it can be kept at low temperature, but must not be exposed to high temperatures and direct sunlight.
    2. Container: Original sealed coated metal drums; after opening, the seal must be re-tightened, the drum should stand upright to prevent leakage; for long-term storage, inert gas protection is recommended to reduce oxidation by contact with air.
    3. Environment: Dry, well-ventilated storage room; the storage location should be managed with locks.
    4. Isolation Prohibitions: Strictly prohibited to be mixed with strong oxidants, strong acids, and strong bases; when exposed to acid, toxic mercaptan fumes will be released; keep away from food and drinking water.

    FAQ

Q: What is the purity of the product?
A: The industrial mainstream specification is ≥ 98%, it is a mixture of isomers of tertiary dodecyl mercaptan; a COA analysis certificate is provided.

    Q: MOQ, delivery time?
A: MOQ: 200kg (minimum order quantity is a full barrel); normal delivery time is 7-10 working days; custom packaging requires separate confirmation.

    Q: What documents are provided?
A: Provide complete MSDS/SDS/COA, related bills of lading.

Q: What are the storage precautions? Will it freeze?
A: Storage temperature is controlled at 2-30℃, protected from light, ventilated, and sealed; the melting point is -7.5℃, and it will not solidify in a regular warehouse; in extremely low temperatures in winter, it will become thick and viscous, and after warming up, it will return to a liquid state, without affecting the quality. It is prohibited to store together with oxidants and strong acids, and the opened container should be used up as soon as possible to avoid long-term exposure to air for oxidation and discoloration.

Q: The smell is very strong, is it normal?
A: Mercaptans have an inherently strong and unpleasant smell, which is a characteristic of the product; the refined version will have a relatively lower smell. The operating environment must maintain strong ventilation, wear protective gloves and goggles to avoid inhaling vapors.
