Polyhexamethyleneguanidine Phosphate (PHMG-P, CAS: 89697-78-9) is a broad-spectrum, low-toxicity, water-soluble polymer guanidine-based bactericide/disinfectant. It is usually available in a 25% aqueous solution and is widely used for disinfection, antibacterial, mold prevention and water treatment.

Differences from common guanidine compounds

PHMG-P (phosphate): Better water solubility, milder, and more widely applicable;
PHMB (polyhexamethylene biguanide): More commonly used in medical disinfection;
Chlorhexidine (chlorhexidine): More often used for oral/dermal applications, with slightly higher irritation.
