What is Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)?
PVP series soluble in water, alcohol, amine and halogenated hydrocarbons, insoluble in acetone, ether, etc. It has excellent solubility, biocompatibility, physiological inertness, film forming, membrane protection ability and the ability to combine a variety of organic and inorganic compounds. Application
Povidone is widely used in the field of medicine and is one of the three new pharmaceutical excipients advocated internationally. The most widely used adhesives are tablets and granules. It can also be used as a flow aid for capsules, detoxification and lubricant for eye drugs, a co-solvent for injections, a dispersant for liquid preparations, and a stabilizer for enzymes and heat-sensitive drugs. Povidone can also be synthesized with iodine povidone iodine (PVP-I) disinfectant. In contact lenses, PVP is used as a component of contact lenses to increase their hydrophilicity. PVP can also be used as a cryogenic preservative in medicine.
