    What Is Benzyltriphenylphosphonium chloride?

Benzyltriphenylphosphonium Chloride (BPP or BTPPC, CAS No. 1100-88-5) is an important quaternary phosphonium salt compound with a molecular formula of C₂₅H₂₂ClP and a molecular weight of 388.87. Benzyltriphenylphosphonium chloride is used as an organic synthesis reagent for several compounds, including stable phosphine ylides containing saturated oxygen heterocycles, and is also used to synthesize novel substituted cis-stilbene derivatives with antibacterial activity.

    Application

    1. Fluororubber vulcanization accelerator
Core application: in combination with bisphenol AF, as an accelerator for crosslinking of fluororubber (addition amount 0.5%–0.7%), significantly improving the compression deformation, chemical corrosion resistance and thermal stability of rubber.
Industrial case: Benzyltriphenylphosphonium Chloride used for crosslinking of tubular halloysite/fluoroelastomer nanocomposites to optimize processing performance.

    2. Organic synthesis catalyst
Wittig reaction: key ylide precursor for synthesizing fine chemicals such as trans-stilbene, cinnamate, and light-driven molecular brake (pentatriene).
Phase transfer catalysis: promotes alkylation, polymerization and other reactions, suitable for the synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates (such as non-chiral hydroxyformamide inhibitors) and liquid crystal monomers.

    3. Polymer material additives
Curing accelerator: Benzyltriphenylphosphonium Chloride accelerates the curing process of epoxy resins and powder coatings.
Asphaltene modification: Benzyltriphenylphosphonium Chloride participates in the formation of the “island structure” of petroleum asphaltene to improve material properties
