TRIETHYLENEGLYCOLMONOMETHYLETHER with cas 112-35-6
Triethylene glycol monomethyl ether abbreviated as Methyl Triglycol / TGME. A hydroxypolyether that is the monomethyl ether derivative of triethylene glycol. Colorless, transparent, viscous liquid with a slight ether odor.
Feature
1. Amphiphilic, fully miscible: It can be mixed with various organic solvents such as water, alcohols, ketones, esters, etc., and is an excellent coupling solvent, providing both hydrophilic and hydrophobic formulation systems.
2. High boiling point, low volatility, slow evaporation rate: The normal pressure boiling point is approximately 249℃, the flash point is approximately 118℃, and the vapor pressure at 20℃ is extremely low. It is a slow-evaporating film-forming aid, which prolongs the opening time of the coating and avoids pinholes, orange peel, and whitening of the paint film. It has much lower volatility than ethylene glycol methyl ether and diethylene glycol methyl ether.
3. Low freezing point (-44℃), not prone to freezing at low temperatures, good stability in winter formulations and storage.
4. Strong solubility: Excellent solubility/swellability of resins, dyes, oils, and high molecular polymers.
5. Good thermal stability; it belongs to an alcohol ether structure and can participate in esterification and etherification reactions, being a basic intermediate for synthesizing PEG monomethyl ether derivatives.

FAQ
Q: Triethylene glycol monomethyl ether main uses?
A:
① Water-based coatings, ink film-forming additives, extending the drying time and improving the leveling property;
② Solvents for electronic chemicals, precision cleaning agents;
③ For organic synthesis, preparing mPEG derivatives;
④ Carrier for textile uniforming agents, brake fluid, special antifreeze agents.
Q: Packaging method?
A: 200kg plastic drums, IBC (intermediate bulk container) drums.
Q: What are the storage conditions and shelf life?
A: Store in a sealed, dark, cool and ventilated place; keep away from oxidants. Over time, it may produce peroxides, so regular testing is recommended. Shelf life: 12 months.
Q: What are the safety operation points?
A: Wear goggles; avoid prolonged skin contact. Rinse eyes with plenty of water; do not store together with strong oxidants.
Q: What is MOQ?
A: Samples are available and a certain fee is required; for regular bulk orders, the MOQ is 1000KG. The shipping cost for samples can be deducted when placing a large order.
