Application
SOD has been proved to have an effective therapeutic effect on colitis. The treatment with SOD can reduce the production of free oxygen and oxidative stress, thus inhibiting the activation of endothelium, and indicating that the regulatory factors controlling the expression of adhesion molecules and the interaction between leukocytes and endothelium, such as antioxidants, may be a new method for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease.
SOD is also used to make cosmetics, which can be used to remove free radicals that can cause damage to the skin, resist oxidation and delay aging.
