Phenol Red Sodium Salt, also known as phenolsulfonylphthalein, is a deep red crystalline powder, slightly soluble in water, alcohol and acetone. This product is in the form of sodium salt and is water-soluble phenolphthalein.
Feature:
1. Excellent water solubility: The free acid form of phenolphthalein is insoluble in water; the sodium salt can be directly dissolved in water to prepare indicator solutions, without the need for ethanol for solubilization, the preparation process is simple, and there is no risk of alcohol evaporation.
2. Precise and stable color change range: pH 6.8 (yellow) to 8.2 (red / magenta); it changes color sensitively in the neutral to weakly alkaline range. It is a gold pH indicator for biological culture media, with clear color contrast, and is easily distinguishable by the naked eye.
3. Good stability of solid powder: It is not prone to decomposition under dry and protected light conditions; the water solution can be stored in the dark, and is stable for a short term; the melting point is 285℃ (decomposition), and the thermal stability is good.

Application
Phenol Red Sodium Salt used as an acid-base indicator, also used in biochemical research.
1. The preferred pH indicator for cell culture medium: Quickly and intuitively determine changes in the pH of the medium, acid production by cell metabolism or contamination, a must-have in biological laboratories.
2. Biochemical and microbiological testing: Bacterial urease test, biochemical color reaction, renal function testing (phenol red excretion test), micro-pH detection of water quality.
3. Chemical analysis indicators: Weak acid and weak base titration, pH monitoring in neutral systems.
4. Excellent spectral characteristics: 520nm characteristic absorption peak, can be used for quantitative detection by spectrophotometry.
