Protease K is a kind of subtilisin protease with high activity, which is used for general degradation of protein in biological samples. Proteinase K can be used for the digestion of various proteins, including preparation of chromosomal DNA for pulse electrophoresis, western blotting, and removal of nucleases in DNA and RNA preparations. The application of proteinase K in the extraction of nucleic acid involves many fields such as the prevention of foodborne diseases, the prevention and control of agricultural diseases and insect pests, the identification and comparison of forensic genes, and the experimental research of molecular biology.
