What is Phenol Red
Phenol red, also known as phenol red, is a dark red crystalline powder with a molecular weight of 354.38 and a CAS number of 143-74-8. Soluble in water, alcohol, acetone, almost insoluble in ether and chloroform. It is crimson when dissolved in alkali hydroxide or Chemicalbook carbonate alkali solution, stable in the air, and can be used as identification medium in microbial culture; acid-base indicator; blood carbon dioxide full measurement; preparation of disaccharide iron urea in bacterial serum test Media indicators, etc.
