Murexide Powder CAS 3051-09-0
CAS 3051-09-0 is Murexide, also known as bone spiral violet and amino purple acid. It is a metal indicator and is mainly used in titration analysis and chemical testing. Murexide can form various colored complexes with many cations. Its aqueous solution appears deep purple, and turns deep blue in alkaline solutions. When combined with calcium ions, it turns red. In acidic solutions, it is colorless. It is slightly soluble in cold water and its aqueous solution easily deteriorates; it is insoluble in alcohols and ethers.

Application
1. Complexometric titration indicators (main applications)
They are specifically used for titrating metal ions such as calcium (Ca²⁺), nickel (Ni²⁺), copper (Cu²⁺), cobalt, manganese, and zinc, etc.
In the titration process, the color changes significantly:
Free indicator: yellow / orange yellow
When combined with metal ions: purple / red purple
2. Qualitative test reagents
Used for detecting:
Ammonium salts
Calcium, nickel, copper, cobalt, etc. metal ions
