    What is Glyceryl Monoricinoleate?

Glyceryl Monoricinoleate is a monoester formed by the esterification reaction of ricinoleic acid (a special fatty acid derived from castor oil, containing one hydroxyl group) and glycerol (glycerol). A glycerol molecule is linked to a ricinoleic acid molecule. Its molecular structure contains both hydrophilic groups (free hydroxyl and ester groups) and lipophilic groups (long fatty acid chains), making it an excellent non-ionic surfactant.

    Application

    1. Cosmetics and personal care, used to prepare lotion, creams, lotion, sunscreen products, etc. It can solubilize essence and oil soluble active ingredients
    2. Plastic industry, efficient internal lubricant: used for PVC (polyvinyl chloride) ABS、 Processing of engineering plastics, etc. It can reduce internal friction between polymer molecular chains, lower melt viscosity, improve flowability, facilitate demolding, and hardly affect the transparency of the product.
    3. Coatings and inks, dispersants and leveling agents: used in the preparation of pigment pastes to help disperse pigments, prevent settling, and improve coating leveling.
    4. In other industrial fields, it is used as a lubricating component in metalworking fluids and as a defoamer in the paper industry.

    Features

    1. Excellent emulsification stability: it can form extremely stable lotion to prevent oil-water separation during storage.
    2. Soluble in most organic solvents and oils, and dispersible in water (due to its non-ionic properties, solubility varies with temperature).
    3. Good compatibility: It is not easy to conflict with other formula ingredients and has high formula flexibility.
    4. Originating from natural oils: Its raw material castor oil is a renewable resource that conforms to the trend of sustainable development.
