DTPA-5K (Glycine, N,N-bis2-bis(carboxymethyl)aminoethyl-, pentapotassium salt) is a strongly basic and highly soluble amino poly-carboxylic acid chelating agent. In industry, it is mainly in the form of a 40%–45% aqueous solution.
DTPA-5K is an alkaline highly soluble chelating agent. It is used for removing sulfate scale in oil fields, as well as in industrial water treatment, electroplating, and general metal control in the cosmetics industry.

Application
Oilfield Sulfate Scale Removal (Core)
DTPA-5K is specifically designed to dissolve refractory sulfate scales such as barite (BaSO₄), celestite (SrSO₄), and gypsum (CaSO₄).
It is used for descaling oil wells, pipelines, and formations, and is stable in high alkaline environments, outperforming EDTA and DTPA-5Na.
DTPA-5K Industrial Water Treatment
Boiler and cooling water system control scale, scale removal, metal ions, to prevent the Ca/Mg/Fe precipitate.
Hydrogen peroxide bleaching stabilizer, inhibiting the catalytic decomposition of metal ions.

It is a metal ion complexing agent for electroplating solutions, enhancing the uniformity and brightness of the coating.
