Calcium hydroxide CAS 1305-62-0, inorganic compound, chemical formula Ca(OH)2, commonly known as hydrated lime or slaked lime. Is a white powdery solid, added to water, in two layers, the upper aqueous solution is called clarified lime water, the lower suspension is called lime milk or lime Chemicalbook slurry. The upper clear lime water can test carbon dioxide, and the lower turbid liquid lime milk is a building material. The solubility of calcium hydroxide decreases with the increase of temperature. Insoluble in alcohol, soluble in ammonium salt, glycerol, and can react with acid to produce the corresponding calcium salt. At 580℃, it decomposes into calcium oxide and water.
