What is Alizarin Red S CAS 130-22-3？
Alizarin Red S is also called alizarin xanthate sodium, soluble in hot water and ethanol, insoluble in benzene, carbon tetrachloride, pH 3.7/5.2. Turns reddish-brown with yellow. Yellow acicular crystal or powder, the aqueous solution is yellowish brown, orange after adding hydrochloric acid, adding sodium hydroxide becomes blue, soluble in ammonia solution is purple, mainly as an acid-base indicator

Application
Alizarin red S can form colored compounds with many metal ions, which can be used for color reaction and colorimetric determination of zirconium, thorium, aluminum, titanium and beryllium. It can be used as microscopic staining agent, in vivo staining of nerve tissue, chromosomal staining in plant cytology and reagents for the determination of belladonna base, as well as for color matching in woolen, worsted, carpets and blankets.
