What is Guaiacol ?
Guaiacol is a white or yellowish crystalline or colorless to pale yellow transparent oily liquid. Has a special aromatic odor. Slightly soluble in water and benzene. Soluble in glycerol. Miscible with ethanol, ether, chloroform, oils and glacial acetic acid.

Application
Guaiacol is widely used in industry. Guaiacol is commonly used to produce various fragrances such as eugenol, vanillin, and artificial musk. Guaiacol is also widely used in medicine. It can be used to synthesize guaiacol benzenesulfonate (potassium guaiacol sulfonate), as a local anesthetic or preservative, and can also be used to remove phlegm and treat digestive disorders.
