Lauryl Betaine, with CAS number 683-10-3, is a mild amphoteric surfactant. It has a hydrophobic long chain at one end and a hydrophilic betaine group at the other end. Lauryl Betaine is a colorless to pale yellow transparent liquid. It is mild and has low irritation, much milder than SLES and K12. It is often used in baby care products and cleansers for sensitive skin. Lauryl Betaine has good foaming properties and dense foam. When used alone or in combination with anionic surfactants, it produces rich and stable foam.
