ACID BLACK 2 dissolved in concentrated sulfuric acid is blue, after dilution to purple, and precipitated. ACID BLACK 2 is black and shiny granular. Soluble in water, the aqueous solution is blue purple, adding sodium hydroxide solution to produce brown purple precipitate. It is blue in ethanol.

Application

ACID BLACK 2 is mainly used in the dyeing of wool and silk, but also in the dyeing of leather (usually through chromium dye), as well as in the coloring of paper, wood products, soap, electrolytic aluminum and the manufacture of inks. ACID BLACK 2 is used for biological staining, such as the staining of central nervous tissue, pancreatic tissue, cell buds, etc.
