Fluorescein Sodium is odorless and hygroscopic. Dissolved in water, the solution appears yellow red with strong yellow green fluorescence, disappears after acidification, reappears after neutralization or alkalization, slightly soluble in ethanol, almost insoluble in chloroform and ether.
