Etileno glicol distearate é um importante aditivo na indústria de cosméticos. Ele pode ser usado como uma pérola agente, condicionado e agente espessante em shampoos, corpo de lavagens e outros produtos de lavagem. Ela é sintetizada pela esterificação de etileno glicol e estearato. A temperatura de reação do tradicional processo de síntese é alta, geralmente entre (150-210°C).
