What is Strontium carbonate CAS 1633-05-2

Strontium Carbonate (CAS 1633-05-2) is a white, odorless, tasteless, and stable powder widely used in the glass, ceramics, pyrotechnics, and electronics industries. Known for its high purity and stability, Strontium Carbonate Powder is a key raw material in specialty glass production, ferrite magnets, and fireworks.

Strontium carbonate, chemical formula SrCO3, colorless prismatic crystals or white powder. Transforms into hexagonal system at 926℃. Melting point 1497℃ (6.08×106Pa), relative density 3.70. Slightly soluble in water, slightly soluble in saturated solution of carbon dioxide, soluble in ammonium chloride, ammonium nitrate and carbonic acid solution. Reacts with dilute hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and acetic acid to release carbon dioxide. Begins to decompose at 820℃, gradually loses carbon dioxide at 1340℃, and completely decomposes into strontium oxide and carbon dioxide at white heat, and the gas can reach 1.01×105Pa.

For customers searching Strontium Carbonate for Sale, we supply high-quality grades suitable for industrial, laboratory, and commercial use, with consistent batch-to-batch quality.

Aplicação

1. Electronics Industry

Strontium carbonate is a key raw material in the electronics field. It is used in the production of color TV cathode ray tubes, electromagnets, and strontium ferrite cores. In addition, it plays an important role in capacitor manufacturing and electronic computer memory materials.

2. Fireworks Manufacturing

Widely used in pyrotechnics, Strontium Carbonate Powder produces a vivid and distinctive red flame effect. It is a common ingredient in fireworks, signal flares, and other pyrotechnic products.

3. Ceramic Industry

As a glaze additive, strontium carbonate enhances the appearance and performance of ceramics. It helps create a smoother and brighter surface finish while improving the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of ceramic products.

4. Metallurgical Industry

In metallurgy, strontium carbonate is used to adjust the composition and performance of metals. For example, in electrolytic zinc production, it can reduce the lead content in electrolytes and remove zinc deposited on the cathode when dissolved in sulfuric acid.

5. Other Applications

Beyond the above industries, strontium carbonate serves as a basic raw material for producing other strontium salts. It is also employed as a palladium carrier in hydrogenation reactions. Additional uses include medicine, analytical reagents, and sugar refining.
