Strontium carbonate, chemical formula SrCO3, colorless prismatic crystals or white powder. Transforms into hexagonal system at 926℃. Melting point 1497℃ (6.08×106Pa), relative density 3.70. Slightly soluble in water, slightly soluble in saturated solution of carbon dioxide, soluble in ammonium chloride, ammonium nitrate and carbonic acid solution. Reacts with dilute hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and acetic acid to release carbon dioxide. Begins to decompose at 820℃, gradually loses carbon dioxide at 1340℃, and completely decomposes into strontium oxide and carbon dioxide at white heat, and the gas can reach 1.01×105Pa.

1.Electronics industry: Strontium carbonate is an important raw material for manufacturing color TV cathode ray tubes, electromagnets, strontium ferrite cores, etc. It is used in capacitor manufacturing and electronic computer memory production.

Fireworks manufacturing: Strontium carbonate can give fireworks a unique red flame effect and is a common raw material for making fireworks, flares, etc.

2.Ceramic industry: Strontium carbonate, as an additive for ceramic glazes, can improve the appearance and performance of ceramics, make the ceramic surface smoother and brighter, and improve the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of ceramics.
