Toepassing 

N,N-Di-tert-butylcarbodiimide kan worden gebruikt:
•Als een reagens voor de guanylation van aryl aminen gekatalyseerd door lanthaan amiden.
•Het voorbereiden van dichloroimidazolidine-4,5-dione door te reageren met oxalyl chloride, dat is een belangrijke intermediair voor de synthese van N,N'-diamidocarbenes.
•Het voorbereiden van de iridium complex van benzamidine naam Ir(FMeppy)2 - (N,N'-di-tert-butyl-4-methyl-benzamidine).
