Lactide is a colorless transparent flake or acicular crystal, melting point 93-95℃, soluble in chloroform, ethanol, insoluble in water. Easy hydrolysis, easy polymerization. It can be used to produce medical polylactic acid and cycloesterification agent.

Toepassing
The production of lactide from lactic acid raw material is mainly based on the use of lactic acid condensation to produce lactic acid oligomers, and then the lactic acid oligomers are depolymerized and cyclized to produce lactide. The whole process needs to be carried out under the conditions of high temperature, negative pressure of and catalysis.
