1, 10-phenanthroline is a common ligand for the spectroscopic determination of metals and the spectroscopic analysis of CO2 reduction. Used for Cu(II) catalyzed organic boric acid crosslinking reaction, etc., can also be used as a REDOX indicator, determination of iron titanite reagent. Form complexes with iron, copper, cobalt, nickel and 2,2 ‘-bipyridine, form red complexes with Fe2+, and oxidize with potassium permanganate to 2,2’ -dipyridine-3,3 ‘-dicarboxylic acid.
