El pterostilbeno (trans-3,5-dimetoxi-4-hydroxystilbene) es un compuesto de origen natural que se encuentra principalmente en los arándanos y Pterocarpus marsupium (PM) de duramen. El pterostilbeno es estructuralmente similar al resveratrol, un compuesto que se encuentra en el vino tinto que ha comparable antioxidantes, anti-inflamatorias y propiedades anticarcinogénicas; sin embargo, el pterostilbeno presenta aumento de la biodisponibilidad debido a la presencia de dos grupos metoxi que hacen que presentan un aumento de la lipofílicos y de la absorción oral.
