18β-glycyrrhetinic acid CAS 471-53-4 (18β-glycyrrhetinic acid) is the main metabolite of glycyrrhizic acid (18β-glycyrrhetinic acid), which is extracted from the rhizome of perennial herb Glycyrrhiza legume. Glycyrrhizic acid is metabolized by glucuronidase in plants, or by intestinal bacteria after oral administration, and can be hydrolyzed to produce two tricyclic triterpenoid stereoisomers, namely 18α-glycyrrhetinic acid and 18β-glycyrrhetinic acid.
